UBDSBE and FEB UGM Champion Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneurship through Global Summer Week 2026


Yogyakarta, Indonesia | 13–24 July 2026 – The Universiti Brunei Darussalam School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) participated as a co-collaborator in the Global Summer Week (GSW) 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Indonesia, in collaboration with the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Held under the theme "Inclusivity and Innovation in Sustainable Entrepreneurship," the programme provided a platform for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and experiential learning, bringing together students and academics to explore innovative and inclusive approaches to sustainable entrepreneurship.

As part of the programme, three UBDSBE students participated in the two-week Global Summer Week, joining peers from partner universities in a series of lectures, workshops, company visits, cultural activities, and collaborative projects designed to broaden their global perspectives, strengthen leadership competencies, and enhance entrepreneurial thinking.

Representing UBDSBE as academic facilitators, Dr Afiqah Amin and Dr Thuraya Farhana Said delivered two sessions entitled "Accessibility for All: Assistive Technology Innovation" and "Identifying Inclusive Business Opportunities." The sessions explored how technological innovation can enhance accessibility and independence while encouraging participants to identify entrepreneurial opportunities that generate both commercial value and meaningful social impact. The interactive sessions also challenged participants to develop inclusive and sustainable solutions that address real-world societal needs.

In conjunction with the programme, the UBDSBE delegation held discussions with representatives from FEB UGM, including Dr Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, Dr Annisa Hayatun Nazmi Burhan, Dr Ida Noviyantie, and Dr Nastyalita Gunaprasida. The meeting focused on strengthening the long-standing partnership between both institutions by exploring future collaboration in postgraduate education, student and staff mobility, research collaboration, and joint international initiatives.

The delegation also participated in company visits, gaining valuable insights into Indonesia's entrepreneurial and business ecosystem. These industry engagements highlighted how organisations integrate innovation, sustainability, and social impact into their operations, reinforcing the programme's emphasis on experiential learning and the application of academic knowledge to real-world business challenges.
