About the Event

Empowering Research, Elevating Scholars


The UBDSBE PhD Colloquium 2025 is a dedicated platform for doctoral students in Business, Management, Economics, Accounting, and Finance to showcase their research, refine their presentation skills, and receive constructive feedback from experienced scholars.

This scholarly event will bring together doctoral students from universities across Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and Kalimantan, fostering academic discussions and networking opportunities.

Objective

Provide doctoral students with a platform to present their research ideas.

Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and research discussions among

Offer valuable feedback from academics, industry experts, and peers.

Strengthen academic collaboration among universities in Borneo.

Participants and Eligibility


The colloquium is open to doctoral students from universities across Borneo (Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, Malaysia and Kalimantan, Indonesia).

Doctoral students in the following fields are welcome to participate:

  3. 3. Economics
  4. 4. Accounting
  5. 5. Finance

All UBDBSE doctoral students are required to participate, except those in the final stages of their PhD thesis submission and subject to their supervisor’s approval.
Participants can showcase their research at the event, receive feedback from expert assessors, and take part in valuable academic discussions.

Best Paper Award

Three papers will be selected for the best paper award. .

Guidelines


Before registration, please prepare the following files:

- A 1500-word maximum Research Summary
- A 500-word maximum Author Biography
- A high-resolution portrait image (10MB or less)


The Research Summary should include the following, if applicable:

- Issue(s) under study
- Objectives
- Underlying concepts, theory, frameworks
- Methodology
- Contribution to knowledge
- Progress to date/findings/results
- Future research process/undertaking


The author biography may include the following points:

-Begin with a brief introduction
-Describe your professional experience
-Highlight your accomplishments
-Share your education and credentials
-Describe your research background


The presentation must follow the following:

-All submissions and presentations must be in English.
-Presenters must be physically present during the colloquium – online presentations are not permitted.
-Participants are given 10 minutes to present, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.
