Welcome to UBD School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE). We are delighted to invite you to learn more about who we are, what we do and how you can be part of our vibrant academic and professional community.
Since our establishment as one of the founding faculties of Universiti Brunei Darussalam in 1985, UBDSBE has been committed to excellence in education, research and community engagement. Over the past three decades, we have proudly developed graduates who are making meaningful contributions in business, government and society.
As part of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, which is ranked among the top 1% of universities worldwide and recognised in the QS Top 50 Under 50, UBDSBE continues to uphold high standards in teaching and research. With the recently introduced GenBESTARI curriculum, UBDSBE offers a wide range of programmes that cater to diverse academic interests and career aspirations. At the undergraduate level, our three-year programmes include the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Accounting (FinTech), Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Venture Development), BSc in Economics, and BSc in Finance (Data Analytics). For those wishing to further their studies, we offer a variety of postgraduate programmes including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), MSc in Islamic Finance and Data Analytics, Master of Management, MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Master of Applied Economics, as well as research degrees such as the Master by Research, PhD, and the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA).
Learning at UBDSBE goes beyond the classroom. Students also benefit from UBDβs signature Discovery Year (DY) which include Study Abroad Programme (SAP), Internships, Community Outreach Programme (COP) and incubation opportunities. These experiences expose students to international perspectives and real-world industry practices.
Our academic community consists of more than 40 dedicated lecturers and researchers, supported by experienced industry professionals who serve as adjunct faculty members and guest speakers. Together, they bring a valuable blend of academic expertise and practical insight that enriches the learning experience for our students.
UBDSBE is also AACSB accredited, one of the most prestigious global recognitions for business schools worldwide. This accreditation reflects our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, curriculum development, and industry engagement. In addition, our Bachelor of Accounting programme is accredited by ACCA, allowing students to receive exemptions for up to nine papers towards the ACCA professional qualification. All our programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate, are continuously reviewed and updated to ensure they remain relevant and aligned with industry and market requirements.
Research is another important pillar of UBDSBE. Our key focus areas include Strategic Dynamics and Innovation, Islamic Finance and Halal Value Chain, and Applied Economics and Policy. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary work, our researchers contribute to impactful studies on topics such as Islamic finance, sustainability, economic inclusion, management systems, and regional economic development.
UBDSBE also actively engages with the wider community through conferences, seminars, and partnerships. We host the International Conference on Business, Economics and Finance (ICBEF) as well as the International Conference on Islamic Finance (ICIF), and we publish the Journal of Business and Economic Analysis (JBEA). These initiatives provide important platforms for knowledge sharing and scholarly collaboration.
Our alumni and industry partners are an integral part of the UBDSBE community. Through mentorship, internships, guest lectures, research collaboration, and curriculum input, their contributions enrich our programmes and strengthen the connection between academia and industry.
