Dr Ahmed Masood Khalid

Professor Ahmed Khalid earned his Ph.D. in economics from Johns Hopkins University, USA. He joined Universiti Brunei Darussalam in May 2015 as a Professor of Economics.  Previously, he worked at the Bond Business School as Professor of Economics and Finance since 2001.  He also worked at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 1992-2000.  Professor Khalid has also worked with the World Bank (visiting Consultant; the Planning Ministry of Pakistan (Advisor to the Minister) and Washington and Lee University (visiting Scholar).  His visiting academic appointments include Nanyang Technology University, Singapore; Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), and Pakistan; and Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).  He has also worked as a consultant for leading institutions in finance and economics including the Economic Research Institute for East Asia and ASEAN (ERIA), Limberg Institute of Financial Economic (LIFE), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), CitiGroup, Haans Seidel Foundation and the UNDP. 

He is also Honorary Professor of Economics at Bond University, Australia and Founder and Covenor of Global Development Forum at the Bond University, Australia.  He is also a member of the U.K. based International Growth Centre (Macro Research Cluster – Pakistan Chapter) and Bond Representative for the Quality Assurance Program for Sur University College in Oman.   Professor Khalid’s research interests are in applied macroeconomics and monetary economics, applied econometrics, financial crisis and financial sector reforms with particular reference to emerging economies in East- and South-Asia and globalization and financial market integration.  He is Associate Editor of Singapore Economic Review; member, Advisory Board, Jurnal Ekonomi Malaysia (Malaysian Journal of Economics); member of the editorial board of South Asian Journal of Global Business Research and a number of other regional journals.  His published papers and books are widely cited in literature.    His publications include four books published by Edward Elgar Publishing Co. U.K., internationally refereed articles, chapters in books and numerous consultancy/project reports, technical reports, working papers and conference papers.

Dr. Muhamad Abduh
Dr. Muhamad Abduh is currently working as an Assistant
Professor of Islamic Finance at the UBD School of  Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He has obtained his Bachelor of Science (Statistics) from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in 2004 and Magister Hukum Islam (Fiqh Al-Mu’amalat) from Ibn Khaldun University, Indonesia, in 2006. He completed his second Master at the Department of Economics of International  Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from 2007 to 2009 and Doctor of Philosophyin Busines Administration (Islamic Banking) at the same institution from 2009 to 2011.

He started his career as an academic in 2004 when he was hired by Kolej Ekonomi Islam Tazkia (Bogor, Indonesia) as a lecturer teaching statistics and quantitative related  modules until 2006. He was working as a part-time lecturer
at the Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences of IIUM from 2009 to 2011 and promoted to Assistant Professor in April 2012 after completing his PhD until 2015 when he moved to Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

His research and teaching interests are focused on the area of Islamic Economics, Business, Banking and Finance. He presented papers in many conferences and published more than fifty articles in various journals such as International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and  Management, Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research, International Journal of Excellence in Islamic Banking and Finance, Journal of Islamic Economics,
Banking and Finance, American Journal of Applied Sciences, Business Intelligence Journal, Journal of Islamic Finance, and et cetera. At the moment, his citations and h-index for Scopus and Google-Scholars are 38 and 3, and 478 and 12 respectively.

Dr. Abduh has written four academic books. The first book was published in Indonesia in 2009 and titled “Zakat: from the perspective of Fiqh and Modern Macroeconomic”. The second book was published in 2013 by John-Wiley & Sons, a New York based publisher, titled “Fundamentals of  Islamic Money and Capital Markets”. The third book was published by IIUM Press in 2016 titled “Foundation of Islamic Finance”. Lastly, the fourth book was published by
UNISSA Press in 2017 titled “Deposit Withdrawal  Behavior in Islamic Banking”.

Dk. Dr. Siti Rozaidah Binti Pg Haji Idris
Pg Dr Siti Rozaidah has been a lecturer in leadership at Universiti Brunei Darussalam School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) since 2008. She has been the Head of Graduate Programme at UBDSBE since 2018.

She has a PhD in Management Learning and Leadership from the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) United Kingdom, 2016, MA in Human Resource Development & Consulting from LUMS, 2007 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from University of Sheffield, 2006. Her current research interests are public sector leadership, islamic perspectives of leadership and cultural studies on leadership. Other areas of interest are in human resource development policies and employability. She has also published several chapters on CSR initiatives in Brunei in a book entitled Green Behavior and Corporate Social Responsibility in Asia (Emerald Group Publishing) and Scopus-indexed journal articles on unemployment issues in Brunei. She has also represented Brunei at the APEC HRD Working Group Meetings under the Capacity Building Network from 2009 to 2014. She has also been invited as a guest speaker and trainer for several leadership development programmes. 

She welcomes research collaboration in the areas of leadership, human resource development and cross-cultural management.
