‘Planting for Our Future’ activity, organised by UOB Asset Management Brunei (UOBAM)

Brunei Darussalam School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) participated in the ‘Planting for Our Future’ activity, organised by UOB Asset Management Brunei (UOBAM) and Green Brunei, with the support of the Brunei Climate Change.
The tree planting is part of Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) Strategy II to increase the country’s carbon sink through afforestation and reforestation programmes with a target of planting 500,000 new trees by 2035. Some 79,625 trees have been planted since the launch of BNCCP in 2020. This is also to support United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 13: Climate Action.
The organisers welcomed 19 participating organisations to plant a total of 63 bucida molineti saplings at Taman Riadah (Pentagon Park). Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office And Minister of Finance And Economy II, Ministry of Finance and Economy, officiated the event by planting a sapling followed by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid and Singaporean High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Heng Aik Yeow. Among the 63 saplings planted by the participating organisation, the representatives of UBDSBE successfully planted a total of four saplings at the dedicated site for the university.
